Thoughts

As the phone gets picked up… “hi dad”… in response … “hey mate, you alright?! (I think it was a question?!) I’ll get your mum”, was pretty much the conversation I would have with him despite wanting to ask him something! I’d have to ask mum how dad was to know how he was 😂… “he says he’s okay”. He was definitely not much of a talker unless it was about fishing, and definitely not about himself. Entering the house was always a ‘cup of tea time’ and if you wanted to talk to him it was outside while he had a cigarette. He’d ask how everything was, and was positive about how Alex and I were now happy and getting on with our lives, shared with Hannah and Karen respectively, always asking after them. Then he was down on the floor, stomach and onto the iPad, reading the paper or eating his dinner 😂… yep, that was him! He loved seeing his granddaughter, Aniya and would wind her up, always. Texts were short and to the point but always with a ‘drive carefully’, ‘thank you’ or ‘take care’ message or he’d just ignore it. He talked fondly of mum but moaned about the activities she *made* them do…like walking, visiting people and going away on short breaks, although you could tell he actually enjoyed them. But no more. Just my thoughts, memories and moments that will remind me of him. Gone but never forgotten. Love you dad xx

Ray Iddles Gone, but not forgotten. Don't be sad, yes have a tear or two. Remember him with a cheerful smile, a man know as Rejection Ray by many, but always went the extra mile to ensure you got your wheels, to carry out your journey come rain or shine. His chair is empty now, but he'll always be there, His sharp wit and wicked sense of humour kept us all on our toes, with his normal greeting "What do you want, go away", "Rejected", following that would inject his sense of humour, and then, welcome you with, "how can I help?", you knew instantly what a man he was, always willing to help no matter the situation. He's be looking down on us now, shouting, 'Don't be silly', Get on with it, Or in his micky taking way, Say to St Peter at the Pearly Gates, 'Your MT 600 is out of date, and you haven't filled out your request properly', 'REJECTED' resubmit. Remember him as the humble man he was, and as we here at the MT Office, knew him 'Muttley' always full of laughs making our day and every day a better one. Rest well my friend

Ray was a true gentleman (old school). He had time for everyone always with his infectious laughter. All the time I worked with Ray he never had a bad day and nothing was too much trouble for him. I remember the year his beloved Leicester won the league. He would have a smile on his face every Monday morning and say no chance. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
